Helix and IPS are thrilled to announce the comeback of the much-loved Engineers vs Lawyers Mock Debate!

After last year’s defeat, the legal team is ready to take it all this year. Armed with sharp arguments and sharper comebacks, they’ll face off against the ever-smug reigning champions: the Engineers.

This year’s battleground topic:

“Rules are always absolute, not advisory.”

• Engineers – Affirmative: Rules are absolute. No exceptions. Ever.
• Lawyers – Negative: Rules are merely suggestions… especially when you know how to interpret them.

Each side will be represented by a trio of experts, with Andrew Chapman, Chief Executive Officer at Queensland Major Contractors Association (QMCA) presiding as adjudicator to keep the chaos somewhat under control. Sit tight ... speaker announcements coming soon.

Expect a fast-paced showdown of logic versus loopholes, regulations versus rhetoric, and the occasional jab at professional stereotypes. Beyond the laughs, you’ll rub shoulders with professionals from across Brisbane’s engineering, legal, and business circles — because networking is always easier when someone’s being roasted on stage.

And ultimately you decide the winner — again.
